What a line up at CrimeFest 2017

January 13, 2017

I am so happy to be participating in the UK’s CrimeFest and to be in such great company. Roll on May – I can’t wait. If you love crime fiction and are in the UK between 18-21 May, then head to Bristol and come and say Hi! CrimeFest has been described by both The Independent and The Guardian as one of the top 50 best festivals in the world and here are some of the great authors attending: Anthony Horowitz, Elly Griffiths, Antonia Hodgson, Zoe Sharp, Stav Sherez, CJ Box, David Young, and the charming Barry Forshaw, as well as my own literary agent Phil Patterson who will be doing Pitch-An-Agent.

I’m really looking forward to meeting Iceland’s Queens of Crime, Jónína Leósdóttir, Yrsa Sigurðardóttir, Sólveig Pálsdóttir & Lilja Sigurðardóttir.

I hope I will see you there!

Having fun at SheKilda3

November 21, 2016

SheKilda3 in Melbourne, Australia, was a huge success and I want to thank Sisters In Crime and especially Carmel Shute, Lindy Cameron and Sue Turnbull for their hard work and dedication.

Sisters in Crime President, Vivienne Colmer, said:

‘Authors and crime buffs came from all over the country – from Cairns to Hobart, Sydney to Perth –with everyone commenting on the stimulating debates, both on stage and elsewhere. The authors and other speakers raved about how inspiring it was to get together with their peers – on both a professional and social level. One author declared it was life-changing.’

For me it was a chance to reconnect with Australia’s best female crime fiction authors – Angela Savage, Sulari Gentill, Leigh Redhead, Kerry Greenwood, Honey Brown to name but a few – and to remind myself that even though I spend a lot of time writing alone, I can pick up the phone and connect with my Sisters In Crime. It was also an opportunity to applaud new talent at the 23rd Scarlet Stiletto Short Story Awards.

Most important of all, it was huge fun for writers and readers alike. I can’t wait until the next SheKilda convention.shekilda3-la-larkin-sulari-gentill-sue-turnbull-and-carmel-shute

Join me in Brisbane with Marianne Delacourt on 5 August

June 30, 2016

Join me and crime fiction author Marianne Delacourt at Brisbane Square Library on 5 August 6-7 pm.

We will discuss creating dynamic female central characters in crime and thriller fiction. In a genre that often depicts women as victims or side-kicks, we talk about why and how we are turning the tables. How do our lead characters’ lives reflect those of the authors?

This event is ideal for crime fiction and thriller lovers, aspiring writers and anyone who will enjoy an evening with two talented and highly entertaining authors.

Books will be available for purchase on the night, or bring your copy from home to be signed. Find out more about the authors here at www.mariannedepierres.com and www.lalarkin.com

A free event but booking is essential. Hope to see you there!
